Step 2: ANABOLIC ALKALINITY

Mickey the Monkey (our mascot) had come to us with a whole host of problems (see hydration).  As much as they are symptoms of hydration, there can be other reasons for these problems as well.  

So we talked to Mickey about "alkalinity".

It's a pretty simple concept…
 
We can measure the pH of our body.  This indicates whether is it is acidic or alkaline.  Ultimately, for our bodies to function best, we want to keep our pH balance neutral at about 7.35 (on a scale of 1 to 14).  Less than 7.2 -7.4 means your body is too acidic.  More than that and it can actually get too alkaline.  

Urine pH gives a reasonable indication of your body (blood) pH.

In the consult, Mickey went and pee'd on a pH test strip, and we found, like most people who come to see us, he was highly acidic.  

So Mickey asked…

Why does that happen?

There are multiple reasons why…
  • You eat to many highly acidic foods (examples: Tomato and oranges, but strangely enough… not lemons (We can tell you about that when you come to see us.)
  • Drinking soda (fizzy drinks)
  • Eating processed foods
  • Inflammation
  • Pain
  • Postural problems
  • Toxicity
  • STRESS!  This is a big one.. any external stresses can create an acidic environment in your body.  And we all have them…
In order for Mickey to actually commit to getting alkaline, he of course wanted to know…

"Why is having an alkaline body important?"

In regards to fat loss… There are enzymes in our bodies that help us break down and transport fat.  These enzymes will only work in an alkaline environment.  It is essential for fat burning and helps create results faster and more efficiently!

Mickey was super excited to know that if he did this step he could greatly increase his results. So, he asked...

"How can I get my body into a more alkaline state?"


Because, like many of our clients, he wants results NOW.  
 
The generic answer is pretty simple…

Eat more "greens".  Green vegetables/supplements (no, not green jelly or beer on St Patricks day) help to counter-balance the stress in your life... Stress creates acidity, greens help to neutralize the acidity (making you more alkaline).

What we have found with other clients is that just eating green vegetables isn't always enough.

So on top of the things Mickey started doing to increase his hydration levels, he also started taking enhanceME Chlorella Superfood.  

To help him with his choice of food, we gave him a list of alkaline forming foods, some of these… like lemon… will surprise you...  Just because foods are acidic doesn't mean they aren't alkalizing. 

Mickey increased the foods that are alkaline forming and took his enhanceME Chlorella Superfood.  

When he came to see us  a couple weeks later, his body had already started to become more alkaline and he was able to maintain the neutral pH by continuing on his program.  

The super cool thing about creating an alkaline body is that… it doesn't necessarily take a long time.  It can happen pretty quickly.  That being said… it can also become acidic quickly too.  So it's all about maintaining that balance.
