Use this spice to lose belly fat

Hugh Norley - Wednesday, September 15, 2010

This spice has been used for hundreds of years for it's medicinal qualities.  You probably already use it, but don't even know it's helping you.

It can actually help you burn belly fat.

It also has been used to

•    reduce blood sugar levels
•    help relieve nausea, vomiting, and flatulence
•    can be used for it's anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties
•    improve circulation

So what is this miracle herb?

Cinnamon!

Honestly, for years this has been one of my favourite herbs to cook with and it's great knowing the fantastic benefits of cinnamon.

One of the first human studies was published in 2003 in a medical journal called Diabetes Care. Sixty people with type 2 diabetes took 1, 3, or 6 grams of cinnamon in pill form daily, an amount roughly equivalent to one quarter of a teaspoon to 1 teaspoon of cinnamon.  After 40 days, all 3 amounts of cinnamon reduced fasting blood glucose levels by 18-29%.

What does this mean to you?

By controlling your blood sugar levels, you are allowing your body to produce less insulin.  One of the biggest factors in packing on the fat is high insulin levels.  So… Reduce your insulin levels and you can reduce your fat!

How do you use cinnamon to reduce your fat?  Eat it!

Buy cinnamon powder (without sugar) and use it as often as possible in your cooking.  You can put it on your oats, smoothies, yoghurt, etc.  I LOVE cinnamon when I make a beef mince dish.  I also tend to sprinkle it on beef that I roast.  The smell of it cooking all day long is mouth watering.

Yesterday, we started experimenting with a cinnamon drink.  It's delicious.  Boil 3 tbsp of cinnamon and 1Tbsp of baking soda in 1L of water.  Drink throughout the day.  Sounds funny, but it's yummy.  Give it a try, especially if you are craving sweets.

Cinnamon has some very great benefits for you and is so easy to add into your diet.  You don't need much to get the benefits of it.  The study here showed that even 1/4 of a teaspoon made a difference.

If you are on medications (especially for diabetes) please consult your doctor before any major changes to your diet or supplementation.  Blood glucose levels can dip too low, so be safe.

Where are you going to eat your cinnamon today?

To your fat loss,

Hugh and Keri Norley

Get Rid of Love Handles

Hugh Norley - Monday, March 22, 2010

Are you sick of putting on your pants and having a bulge of fat hang over them? Or snuggling up with your partner and feeling self-conscious of them squeezing your love handles?

If so, we have a scientifically proven way to actually target fat loss and help you get rid of love handles.

It's quite simple, really... Your love handles actually relate to your bodies' ability to deal with sugar. If your body cannot deal with sugar then it tends to accumulate body fat on or in your love handles. So if you want to get rid of the love handles then you need to well manage your intake of sugar to start of with and teach your body to be able to deal with sugar long term.

I know this may sound like, well duh... But we know that every part of the body that has excess fat is there for a different reason.  To get rid of love handles, you simply must learn to control your sugar levels.  With years of abusing our bodies, this can be easier said than done, if you do it on your own.

If you are really committed to getting rid of your love handles then let us show you the way, step-by-step to making it happen with ease.  Start to watch the fat melt away by calling us now at +612 8006 1256 or email us at info@targetedfatloss.com.au.

New Year’s Resolution – Lose the Fat

Hugh Norley - Wednesday, March 17, 2010

I have a confession to make today. Over the last month, we’ve had a lot of stress in our lives. My husband and I decided to pack up house, move everything into storage and come overseas to the States to stay with my family for a little while. To say the least it was an incredibly crazy, chaotic, stressful month. All while having the holiday and still doing coaching and our business. So, I let some bad old habits to slip back into my life and I really want to come on here and confess to you guys because we are all human.

A lot of times I coach my clients and they feel really bad about "slip-ups" and get all guilty and then drop off the band wagon, altogether. They stop losing weight, they get into bad habits again. They think, “Oh god it’s all over”! Well... It’s not! It’s been 4 weeks that I’ve been eating way too much chocolate again.

In the past that’s been my way of dealing with stress. I also basically stopped exercising for a few weeks because we just didn’t have time. It was chaotic and we have the holidays so we just wanted to chill out. Now, it’s about a month later. I know what I’ve done and I’ve taken the steps that I needed to take to get back onto my own band wagon.

One of the reasons you haven’t heard from me in the last month is because I live in integrity. To me it’s really important that if I’m going to teach you guys stuff and coach, that I’m doing whatever I tell you as well. The videos kind of stopped last month because I think unconsciously, I just couldn’t really pass the word on when I wasn’t fully living what I was preaching.

Here I am, back on the bandwagon, doing all I can do hit my next goal. I actually hit my last goal and dropped down to size 10 after gaining the weight from my pregnancy. Now, the goal is by the 7th of April to be down to US Size 6. Here goes guys, I’m back at it. I’m back at the gym. I haven’t stop eating chocolate completely. I have definitely had it a few times in the last few weeks but there are days that I haven’ t had any. I’m getting back on track again.

It takes an effort and I’m back on the band wagon. After the holidays and with new year’s resolution, if you had any slip ups, any “ooopses”, you hop back on your bandwagon as well and let’s hit our goals. By the way overseas, we’ve moved to the Palm Springs, California area, for the time being. It’s been a lot of fun being gypsies, hanging out. We are at all sorts of different people’s houses and meeting really amazing new people. So we've got some fun stuff happening and that means you guys are gonna learn some really great new things this year. Stay tuned for some regular posts coming up about some not so talked about topics! Trust me... you won't want to miss these, so subscribe to find out when we post next.

Belly fat is intimately related to your stress levels. What’s the Deal with Colonic Irrigation or Enemas?

Hugh Norley - Wednesday, February 24, 2010

Have you ever wondered about colonic irrigation or enemas?

Today, we’re gonna uncover the mess behind them.

So what are they? Basically what happens when you do either, is you stick a tube up your bum. Then water goes into the tube, it goes up your colon and basically the concept is then the water pushes all the stuff that builds up in your colon out. Yes, the water that goes in, must come out. Like I said it’s messy but an incredibly cleansing process.

What happens when you do them is like I said when the water goes up into your colon, it’s cleansing the walls of the colon so that you’ll absorb more nutrients. We’ve talk about this before in other places, if you have a build up on your intestine, your colon or all of your digestive system, what will happen is whatever food you’re eating, even if it’s really healthy food, may not actually be absorbed because they’re too dirty. So what you’re gonna do in having either one of these is to clean up your insides so that the walls of your colon are clean so that nutrients can be absorbed.

The end result is amazing! The focus, clarity, energy levels can improve dramatically and headaches may go away. So many problems can be helped by keeping clean insides.

So what is the difference between the two? The difference is when you have a colonic, you go and actually see a practitioner to help you. It’s a bit personal but the equipment is great. What will happen with the colonic versus the enema is that it can actually go deeper into the colon so you’ll have more of a cleanse than what you have at home.

Now, if you want to do it at home because you do not want to see somebody else to help you out or there is no one locally you know that actually does this. Better to do it this way than not at all and you can get an at home kit. You can find it online or at your local chemist or pharmacy. You are looking for a thin tube that you stick up your bum and then sunction the water in. You want to let it run through for about 20 minutes.. When you first start, you may not make it that long. I know I could not do 20 minutes the first time I did it at home . It was just not comfortable at all and well I won't get into the gory details. :) But the end result is phenomenal. It’s worth every moment of it. So stick in there and let the water do its job.

If you have any other questions, suggestions or comments please do make comments on this and I will do my best to help you guys out and answer all the questions I can. Otherwise consult a local health practitioner or go to a clinic that specializes in colonic irrigation.

Can a Detox Help You Get Rid of Belly Fat?

Hugh Norley - Thursday, February 18, 2010

Have you ever wondered about detoxification?

What is it? Why would you do it?

At the moment everywhere I turn, someone seems to be promoting, advertising, or talking about detoxification. So today, let's talk about what all the buzz is about.

Before we get into detoxification, I wonder…

How Many Times a Day Do You Go to the Toilet?

If you are not going to the toilet frequently, you are not releasing toxins. I am amazed at how many people think it’s ok to spend even one day without going poo! So why is it important to frequent ourselves at the toilet? To EXPEL SH#T! Excuse my language but that’s what you are doing!

Food is a source of energy. Once the body has gotten what it needs out of the food, then the rest needs to be eliminated. When you don’t eliminate it, then you get a build up of toxins in your body and your colon. The toxic build up can actually cause decay in your body. This decay can attract viruses and bacteria and all sorts of yucky bugs to the area. When the yucky bugs are there many of the good bacteria that keep our system clean, gets killed off.

Imagine an animal killed on the street with bugs flying around it and eating it from the smell of the decay. That’s what your insides can start to look like! YUCK! No Thanks! So, in order to keep your insides healthy, you MUST POO! Going to the toilet a couple times a day is a GREAT thing! Also remember that you must drink water to flush out your system as well.

So now that you know how easily we can build up toxins in our bodies, let's talk about detoxification.

A detox is when you get rid of all the toxins in your body. Where do you get the toxins from? Anywhere around you, the food we eat, the things you breathe in, what you drink and I’m talking about even from good sources of food like vegetables, fruits, and meat. You can get toxins from anywhere. When toxins build up in your system they can clog it up. Because of this you may start to feel run down, tired, get sick, have a lack of energy, or headaches. You can even start to get bloated or have extra fat around your body So it’s a great thing to do to in order to clear yourself from all this stuff and actually start to feel better and even get rid of belly fat.

Why would you detox?
Simply… you will feel better! Most people will claim that once they have a detox, they get much more focused, they have clarity, again they’ll start to shed the fat really quickly. It's possible that a detox can help get rid of fat on your belly, love handles, bum, thighs, arms... You may also start sleeping better, and even clear up any indigestion you may have. There’s all sorts of wonderful things that can happen from having a detox.

So over the next few days, we’ll be talking a bit more about detoxes. We’ll tell you some of the ways you can detoxify and also we’re gonna get into some fun stuff about colon cleanses and enimas. It’s an untouched subject that many people don’t talk about but we’re gonna uncover it here.

Are You Keeping Your Fat for Protection?

Hugh Norley - Tuesday, October 06, 2009

My beautiful boy Robbie is the inspiration for the video today. I’m sitting here looking at his cute little fat rolls, his thunder thighs, flabby arms or bat wings and the love handles or what we call the "fat belly". When we get older we think this is gross but for little babies it’s gorgeous! Babies need their fats to keep them warm, it’s actually their protection. They need this insulation to warm themselves. As we grow older, we may not need that amount of fat to protect and insulate ourselves

What are you protecting yourself from? Is it an emotional thing? Are you carrying an additional baggage from something emotional? Maybe it’s a physical thing? Are you protecting yourself from some physical harm or mental stress. Some people used to say that a presentor or a frequent speaker on a plarform often use it as an excuse. They can’t fit and can’t go out, lead or present because they don’t look good enough. So you stop yourself from actually achieving your dreams.

So what is it for you that you are protecting yourself from? This one is pretty huge guys. When you get to the bottom of this, watch those flabby arms, that fat belly, those love handles and those thunder thighs just roll off. It’s simple. Just keep working on your mind. Keep doing things you know how to do. Eat healthy and do exercise. Trust me. Keep listening to these tips and your fat would just be rolling away. Until next time, Robbie and I are signing out.

Secret Revealed! I was hiding eating “bad” food…

Hugh Norley - Sunday, September 06, 2009

I am just back from a 2 week trip to California, where I was visiting family. (I live in Sydney now, although I am originally from Chicago).

Usually when we go to the US, we come back kilos heavier and our clothes don’t fit. We tend to eat foods that aren’t good for us and that are loaded with unnecessary additives and generally speaking… eat too much crap. Unfortunately a very American way of life, that is becoming all too common in Australia as well.

In any case… I was shocked to learn that I had mostly maintained my size and even dropped a bit of fat around my belly. Complete shock, as I was totally convinced that I had gained fat. My point here… it’s amazing what the mind can do.

We can think ourselves thin and we can think ourselves fat. I honestly looked in the mirror and saw a fatter person and also, thought that my clothes weren’t fitting as well.

I teach my clients all the time that the biggest thing to overcome in your mission of creating your ideal body, is your mind. Trust me when I tell you, I got into this field and wanted to solve my own problems with yo-yo diets and have done a lot of work on my nutrition, exercise and mindset, but yes.. i still have some skeletons in the closet that come out every so often.

Let me preface this mission with the fact that I have already started working on losing fat that I had gained during my pregnancy. I have been working on this the past few months. My husband, Hugh, did a phenomenal course teaching him to actually spot reduce fat. In other words… get rid of fat in those areas of your body that you struggle to get rid of, no matter how hard you try. Things like love handles, flabby arms, your butt, hips, thighs, man boobs, etc.

It is all based on balancing the hormones in your body and works AMAZINGLY well. Here has been the problem with it… when we first started, our protocol was to go on a very high protein diet. We eliminated everything but meat and some veggies, (a minimal amount of the veggies). I LOVE veggies, fruit and yes chocolate. So what happened, I believed i had no variation of food, got bored of meat, my body struggled to break all the meat down and in my mind… I felt so restricted. So… I started to hide eating sweets from Hugh. (How many of you have done this?) Even hid eating fruit! The funny things was, I was still dropping the cms/inches. The problem with this was massive…

I started to feel guilty about my eating and hiding it from Hugh, so I started eating more of it. Yes, even though I teach how to stop this horrible spiral, I too became a victim of it. Yikes! It hasn’t lasted long (only a few weeks), and here I am telling you the tale, so that hopefully it will help you get out of any vicious spirals downwards that you are creating for yourself. Once I started feeling guilty and binging more, I started to put fat on, only small amounts, but the past few weeks that is what happened. I got more stressed and my body stored the fat. Again… I’m showing you the power of the mind.

So… I have taken control back. The first step for me was admiiting this problem to Hugh, so yesterday we talked about everything that happening for me. I told him everything. We talked about what was happening in my mind, uncovered a few more things and I’m getting back on track now, in my own way. The one thing I tell all my clients when they want to lose weight is that what you eat, must be sustainable long term. Don’t worry about diets, just eat whole foods.

If you don’t know about whole foods, check out our site, www.targetedfatloss.com.au to get our course and learn more. So this is my commitment… Go back to basics, eat whole foods, if I chose to eat anything outside of that, I will and know it’s a choice I make and feel ok about that. This is the mission… to show you that eating a balanced diet, combined with exercise, some supplementation and the right mindset will get you the results you desire.

This is the beginning…

Hugh Norley - Wednesday, September 02, 2009

Well, it’s official… I am ready to lose my pregnancy weight.

I must admit, I have already started this journey, but I don’t think I ever really got my mind into the game. By the time I have started this blog, I have already released about 8 cms (3.14inches) from around my waist. Yes, I’m feeling good and I still have quite a bit to go.

Before I was pregnant I was actually lifting cars! Check it out… http://tinyurl.com/kericarlift I was full of muscle and even though I was without a 6-pack, was still doing well for myself.

I liked my body and felt sexy and strong. Now, even though according to my clothes, I’m smaller than I was then, I have fat in places I didn’t and a heck of a lot more of it. I have more aches and pains and a general lack of fitness.

Of course the c-section hasn’t helped. I have started back with weight training and have this weird thing where I don’t actually have any feeling in my lower abdominal muscles. I used to feel it and be able to control it. Now… nothing! So, I’m feeling back at square one.

Back to about 4 years ago when I first met my husband and he started teaching me about weight training. Back to when I had nothing. Where it once was… I can find it again!

Here I am at the beginning, and today I start by confessing my addiction to chocolate. I eat it everyday! This is ok in moderation, but when losing weight or being healthy, eating lots of chocolate that is poor quality is not the way to go about it. SO… I will talk to my hubby today and tell him what’s been happening for me and get ready to quit this addiction. Anyone else with me?
